Tournaments

One of the most challenging experiences you can have on High Velocity Paintball is to participate in a tournament. You can pit your skills against those of other players. There are two types of tournament games: Freeguns and Regular Equipment (regs). This guide will introduce you to tournament basics, how teams are picked, the common types of tournament games, and tournament etiquette (how to act).
Tournament Basics
When a tournament is about to be started the TM (Tournament Manager) will make an announcement over all of the servers. It will look something like this in your chat window:
Pizza global announces:Addicts, over to the Afterlife for a Reg Captains tournament! Entry fee: $2500! Game type: Squads. READ THE LOG OR DON'T PLAY!
If you decide that you want to play in the regular equipment tournament (any equipment except for a freegun), simply log out of your current server and log into The Afterlife. Once you are there hit ctrl O. This will bring up the Tournament Screen.
This is the tournament screen. It shows you the type of tourn, cost of the tourn, and the maximum players per team.
Once enough players are on the server 2 players will sign up for the tournament as Captains. A Captain's job is to pick his team. In order to decide who gets to pick first, the TM will roll a set of dice. It will look something like this:
A Hooters Girl has rolled a pair of dice: 1 and 6.
A Hooters Girl has rolled a pair of dice: 4 and 4.
The first Captain who signed up got a 7. The second Captain who signed up got an 8. The second Captain won the roll. Now he gets to choose if he wants the first pick, or the second and third pick. This is a strategic move. He must consider the skill of the players online.
Before you decide to enter the tournament read the log !! Just click on the tab that says Log. This is the TM's set of rules. Each TM has slightly different rules for their tournaments. Once the winning captain decides which pick he wants, the picking process begins. Picking is done through chat and in tells. Usually if a team captain picks you he will chat, " I pick <yourname>". After he does this he will give you a tell with the password. Once you have the password click on the Manage tab.
Select the name of the team that picked you from the drop down menu. Enter that password that was given to you in the Password box.
Congratulations ! You are signed up for a tournament !
There are different types of tournament games. The most common types of games are Squads, 1 vs. 1, Rumble Relay, and Capture the Flag. Details on each of these games can be found under the Games of HVPB section of this site.
Tournament Etiquette is an important part of tournaments. It is very important that you act polite and follow rules in addition to following the TM's log. Here are some tips on Tournament Etiquette"
During picking do not Spam, "I'M IN......I'M IN...... I'M IN...... I'M IN" Saying this once at the beginning of picking should be enough, unless the TM asks if anyone else is in who has not been picked.
Do NOT say that you are playing if you have to leave soon or do not have all of the maps
Do NOT quit a tournament, or change your mind about playing after you have been picked.
DO engage in sportsmanlike conduct. You are expected to respect the other players in the tournament. There will be no excessive gloating or putting people down
Before a tourn starts, Do NOT repeatedly Spam the TM with the type of tourn you would like. The TM will probably ask for a vote in tells. Simply give him a SINGLE tell with the type of tournament you would like to play in.
