ALL MODES OF VISION OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY OF ONE ANOTHER
Thermal (referring to a kind of imaging) allows you to see through both mountains and hills, providing your opponents are in your scope range. This effect will be negated if your opponent has insulation. [Infiltrators are the most likely class to have insulation]
Gamma [a kind of detection device] allows you to see through both kinds of trees, providing your opponents are in your scope range. This effect will be negated if your opponent has shielding. [HWs are the class most likely to have shielding].
Sonic, the concept idiots can't get their heads around, is an extension of hearing. It will see through mountains, hills, jungles and forests. This effect will be negated if your opponent has sound dampener. [Snipers often have sound dampening, as do infiltrators] HOWEVER, just like in real life, terrain will not always make the same sound once stepped on. THUS valleys and deserts, used in conjunction with other terrain, provide an impromptu blockage from sonic.

Sniper [with sonic]
The sniper will not be able to see the player, as, even though the sonic will penetrate the mountain, it will be blocked by the valley, and even though the scope would penetrate the valley, it is blocked by the mountain.
Scope sees in straight lines. It is blocked by trees and mountains/hills. It is blocked also by invisible infiltrators. Every class starts with a base scope (the same for all classes) and receive upgrades to their scope using mods, weapons and helmets.
Satellite provides a smaller view of the game field, and shows all players in their current locations. This effect is negated if a player is standing on the same type of terrain as they have camouflage. For example, if one stands on a mountain while wearing mountain camouflage, one will not appear on satellite.
